collaborative project:
Harassment and Discrimination in Archaeology
What is the scale and what are the structural factors of harassment and inequality in professional and academic archaeology?
|
Based at The University of British Columbia, this study is a collaborative effort between Lindsay Der (The University of British Columbia), Anne Duray (Stanford University) and Thea De Armond (New Mexico State University). Currently in the IRB review stage, this online survey, scheduled to launch Spring 2019, will gather data on the nature and scale of harassment and discrimination in post-secondary academic and professional archaeology in North America. Data from the study will serve as a basis for developing solutions to make studying and working in archaeology more equitable and safe for everyone. This study parallels the symposium, What Have You Done For Us Lately?: Discrimination, Harassment, and Chilly Climate in Archaeology that took place on Thursday, April 11 at the 2019 annual meeting of the Society for American Archaeology.
